Appointment Pool
Newman Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Health and Physical Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2018 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2019. Placements can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2018 school year, and up to the end of Term 2, 2019.
Suitable applicants will work as part of a teaching team to provide high quality learning experiences for all students. Suitable applicants will demonstrate highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. You will be delivering the Western Australian Curriculum Health and Physical Education for Years 7-10 and subject to qualifications and experience and/or willingness to attain the necessary qualifications, Certificate II in Sport Coaching or Recreation for senior secondary students. ATAR Health Studies is a possibility and teachers may be required to teach their minor area of qualification.
Newman SHS has a partnership with VSwans to deliver selective specialist programs emphasising netball and Australian Rules football which are popular with students and delivered in collaboration with teachers. In 2019 basketball may be added to this. Health and Physical Education teachers use high quality facilities shared with the Shire of East Pilbara. Newman has a large number of sporting teams and sporting facilities are of a high standard.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
