Other Conditions: Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the Mental Health Commission. Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Position Profile: We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic person to the position of Clinical Consultant. The Clinical Consultant will provide mental health policy advice on matters relating to the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist. In this position you will develop and implement strategic policy and clinical procedures to facilitate the administration of the Mental Health Act (2014) including specific responsibility for state wide education and training programmes, in respect of the Chief Psychiatrist's statutory functions. You will also provide clinical expertise to Area Mental Health Services and the Health and Disabilities Service Complaints Office in their investigation and conciliation of complaints. The Clinical Consultant will participate in all aspects of Quality Reviews including liaison with key stakeholders.
Area Profile: The Office of the Chief Psychiatrist is an independent statutory body established under the Mental Health Act 2014 (WA). The Chief Psychiatrist is a statutory officer who holds powers and duties as prescribed by the Mental Health Act 2014 (MHA 2014). The Chief Psychiatrist is supported by an Office that is a public sector department and reports to Parliament through the Minister for Mental Health. The Chief Psychiatrist, pursuant to section 515 of the MHA 2014 is responsible for overseeing the treatment and care of all voluntary patients, involuntary patients, mentally impaired accused detained at an authorised hospital, and all persons referred under sections 26(2) or 26(3)(a) or 36(2) for examination by a psychiatrist.
