Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to permanently appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Health and Physical Education Teacher.
The successful applicant for this position will be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You will demonstrate the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school H&PE curriculum in Year 7-12 Physical Education, Health Education and a range of PE electives.
The successful applicant will engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice to create an environment conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities, which provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs. Applicants should also have a sound understanding of the new Western Australian syllabus, with a focus on assessment and the use of ICT.

Byford Secondary College (SC) is an Independent Public School located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities, with a current cohort of over 1200 Year 7-12 students in 2018. Byford SC has also become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities with our inclusion facilities opening this year.
As a new secondary College with a focus on ICT and an established BYOD (iPads) program, suitable applicants will ideally embrace 21st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy. Byford SC's motto, Aspire to Excellence, clearly articulates our vision of being the secondary school of choice for the local community which provides a comprehensive suite of subjects from Year 7 through 12.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
