The Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety is seeking an engineer passionate and enthusiastic about fire safety and work with the state-wide cladding audit team. This position will also undertake detailed risk assessments of buildings with cladding that fall within the audit scope.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer to increase your exposure to a wider range of project types and to influence fire safety policy working with the state building regulator.
We are offering a twelve (12) month opportunity with the possibility of a twelve (12) month extension and/or permanency at our newly refurbished Cannington site which is conveniently located close to public transport links, free secure parking and amenities.
The role
The Principal Fire Engineer is responsible for providing high level strategic direction and leadership on fire engineering and related matters, with the aim of reducing the likelihood and consequences of fire on the community.
The position frequently manages unique and complex technical issues which require innovative solutions involving distinctive designs and assessment techniques. The Principal Fire Engineer requires high level interpersonal skills in order to advocate the advancement of operational requirements and to manage the negotiation of Building Codes, standards and statutes that improve public/firefighter safety and construction industry efficiencies.
