The newly formed Department of Justice is going through an exciting period of change that will result in Youth Justice Services delivering leading edge case management to young people engaged with the Justice system. We currently have a vacant Youth Justice Officer position within the East Kimberley Youth Justice Services Team and we are seeking a capable, dynamic person who is passionate about supporting young people towards leading pro-social, law-abiding lives.
The position is based in Kununurra but offers the successful applicant the ability to travel extensively throughout the East Kimberley region
Role
Youth Justice Officers manage the case coordination of young people who have offended and are subject to community supervision orders. They also provide through care and case co-ordination services to young people in an effort to reduce reoffending, protect the community and direct young people away from crime and/or antisocial behaviour.
The Youth Justice Officer is responsible for providing services for young people that are in alignment with those mandated under the Young Offenders Act 1994 and with the stated objectives and priorities contained within the Youth Justice Framework.
Job related requirements
Applicants must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
Regional and remote travel is a requirement of this position and is undertaken by both four wheel drive and light aircraft. (C Class Drivers Licence is essential)
