Appointment Pool
Alkimos Beach Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2018 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2018 school year.
Alkimos Beach PS is looking for committed, professional and collaborative teachers who are able to work effectively in teams. Suitable applicants will have excellent interpersonal skills in order to develop effective relationships with students, staff and parents. They will be passionate educators, have a contemporary teaching pedagogy and be committed to making a difference in the lives of students. Suitable applicants will also have the skills and experience to provide a high quality teaching and learning program to meet the needs of the students while addressing the targets of the school’s Business Plan.
This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic teachers to be a staff member of this Independent Public School. Suitable applicants will be highly motivated and committed to raising literacy and numeracy achievement, as well as social and emotional skills, through the effective use of whole-school approaches and explicit teaching. They will create an effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment based on high expectations. They will also use assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs, set targets and plan for differentiated learning opportunities for all students in their class.
Teachers at Alkimos Beach PS integrate digital technologies, in their daily teaching, to support innovative, differentiated learning opportunities and promote higher order thinking. The Australia Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) and SCSA Technologies Curriculum are integral to teaching across all learning areas at Alkimos Beach PS.
Applicants will be committed to reflective teaching practices through direct classroom observation and peer feedback as well as being committed to their own professional learning to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary, research approaches. All members of the Alkimos Beach PS teaching team participate in whole school, phase of learning as well as curriculum teams. Demonstrated leadership in these areas would be well regarded.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
