The Heritage Assessment and Registration branch has an opportunity for a Senior Land Information Officer. We are seeking a qualified individual to coordinate and deliver a customer service focused mapping, land information and spatial data management service.
In this role you will build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an excellent customer service. You will use desktop and online Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to capture, manage analyse, visualise and share spatial data, as well as research, analyse and record land information necessary for the assessment, registration and protection of heritage places in accordance with the Heritage of Western Australia Act 1990, which includes related conveyancing and document lodgement tasks.
In this role you will build on your knowledge of the functions and operations of the land administration system of Western Australia, the principles of geographic and land information data management, the application and enhancement of Geographic Information Systems to process, analyse and visualise spatial data and prepare maps and the automation of GIS based processes.
This position is a temporary opportunity for up to 6 months with possible extension and/or permanency. Suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar (permanent and fixed term) vacancies for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

To be successful in this opportunity, you need to demonstrate:
- The ability to coordinate and conduct the capture of data, management and publication of spatial information relating to heritage places utilising GIS Desktop Software (e.g. ArcGIS) and online mapping platforms (e.g. ArcGIS online), including the ability to use programming and scripting languages (e.g. Python) to enhance tools and processes.
- An understanding of the principles, functions and operations of the land administration system of Western Australia.
- The ability to liaise with and provide high quality advice to internal and external stakeholders on land related matters.
- A high level of attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- The ability to prepare and manage low risk contracts, including procurement planning, tender documentation and evaluation, contract formation, and contract management in consultation and negotiation with stakeholders.
- Possession of a ‘C’ class driver’s licence or equivalent.
