The Department of Communities Child Protection and Family Support is responsible for administering a range of child safety and family support services to individuals and families in WA.
LOCATION
The office is located in Mandurah which is a coastal city, situated approximately 72 kilometres south of Perth. It is WA’s fastest growing regional city and is known for spectacular waterways, abundant wildlife, natural beauty and pristine beaches. The city center has a range of amenities including shops, restaurants and cafes.
WHAT’S THE JOB
The Senior Child Protection Worker Placement Services works collaboratively with District staff, foster carers, community groups and other stakeholders, to build local capacity and resources to meet the placement and care needs of children in our care.
Duties include:
- providing and coordinating support to foster carers, and promoting local practice;
- participating in planning decisions involving children in our care; and
- ensuring Departmental statutory obligations and practice standards are complied with in relation to child placements.

This is a temporary 2 years full time (75 hours per fortnight) opportunity with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.

CONDITIONS
You cannot be considered for this position unless you have a completed university degree in:
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Bachelor of Psychology or
- relevant Human Services area.
NOTE: If you have a relevant Human Services qualification you will need to supply unit descriptions/summaries for assessment against the Qualifications Framework.
All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency by Overseas Qualifications Unit, AEI-NOOSR or AASW and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
Additionally we require/ to be considered for this position you must have:
- substantiated evidence of your eligibility to live and work in Australia
- see section 7 of the JDF for additional pre-employment requirements
A criminal record check and departmental check will be conducted prior to commencement.
