The School Curriculum and Standards Division is looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed candidate to join their team in the position of Principal Consultant – Strategic Engagement in the Strategic and External Relations branch.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to provide input into the development and implementation of Statewide education policy and establish networks with a range of national, local and international stakeholders. The successful applicant will have the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload and be able to communicate confidently at all levels internal and external to the organisation.
The Principal Consultant will provide professional, comprehensive and wide-ranging support to the Manager Strategic and External Relations, through strategic input, informed advice and leadership with respect to projects, programs and other allocated initiatives.
The School Curriculum and Standards Strategic and External Relations branch operates in a busy, stimulating and challenging area. The work environment is a collaborative one. The School Curriculum and Standards Division provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for fixed term or permanent appointments to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- High-level project and program management skills, including ability to implement processes to facilitate monitoring, reporting and successful delivery.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in undertaking high-level consultations, collaborations and negotiations.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including experience in preparing reports, statements, publications and information packages.
- Ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively to manage a range of complex projects.
- Highly developed organisational skills with a proven ability to deliver outcomes on schedule in a demanding environment and under tight timeframes.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
