Position Profile: East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) is commissioning a new Youth Mental Health Unit for 16 to 24 year olds that will open soon and will coincide with the opening of the new Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).
The East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMyU) will deliver a contemporary and innovative model of care that is tailored to the needs of the youth population.
EMyU will be located at the Bentley Hospital site and will consist of 12 authorised mental health beds. It will provide acute inpatient care and offer a seven day model of care in line with strategic priorities for WA Health and the Mental Health Commission (MHC).

We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and enthusiastic person to the position of Consultant - Psychiatrist. In this role you will lead a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist psychiatric services to patients, promote patient safety and quality of care and provide leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers. In collaboration with the Medical Co-Director, Clinical Leads and other Consultants, this position works to achieve national, state and EMHS performance standards and targets. This position also works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the EMHS Area Medical Credentialing Committee.
