We are currently seeking a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the Building Commission team as a Principal Building Surveyor for 6 months with a possibility of extension or permanency.

- Building Surveying Practitioner Level 1 certificate of registration under the Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 or is eligible to hold such a certificate.
- Ability to understand and interpret compliance with Building laws and a desire to guide the industry.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and contribute to team goals.
The role
In this role your primary responsibility is to audit the work of registered building surveyors to ensure compliance with Building laws and obligations under the Building Services (Registration) Act 2011 and Building Act 2011. You will do so as an authorised person on behalf of the State under the Building Services (Complaint Resolution and Administration) Act 2011.
The Principal Building Surveyor will take a leading role in providing assistance to the industry, ensuring that administrative and legislative requirements are met. This focuses on providing training and education to the Building Commission staff, industry and other stakeholders on building standards and the relevant legislation.
This role is located in Cannington at our newly refurbished offices convenient to public transport and free secure staff parking.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that become available from 12 months from the finalisation of this process.
