Cecil Andrews College is seeking a hardworking and dedicated Senior Gardener – Handyperson to join their friendly team.
In this role you will be responsible for the maintenance of our school grounds and will perform minor repairs and maintenance in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that tools and all horticultural equipment are maintained in a serviceable condition, formal and informal sports areas are marked, as required, and maintained.
In addition to the above, as the Senior Gardener-Handyperson you will be required to maintain accurate gardening records and to provide advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services on school ground maintenance. We are seeking someone with good interpersonal and communication skills who can work as part of a team as well as independently.
Cecil Andrews College is situated in the fast developing City of Armadale, in the locality of Seville Grove; an area experiencing rapid urban development in conjunction with the Armadale Redevelopment Authority. The college has recently undergone a three million dollar upgrade. As a result, the college boasts excellent facilities for its students. The final phase of the upgrade includes some renovations to the spacious grounds and the installation of some significant artwork in the central courtyard. The tranquil environment and college setting are key factors in enhancing this quality learning environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for fixed term or permanent appointments to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy; and
- Obtain or hold a current working with children check
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department's training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a ten (10) day breach period to this selection process.
