The Combat Sports Commission, the controlling body for all combat sports contests held in Western Australia, is seeking applications from persons wishing to be considered for appointment as a Commissioner in early 2018.
The role of the Combat Sports Commission is to ensure the health and safety of all combat sports contestants by overseeing all contests and providing guidance and leadership to members of the industry from contestants through to promoters and trainers.
Hosted in the offices of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSCI) – Sport and Recreation, The Commission is supported by Sport and Recreation with executive services, administration & financial management, communications & advocacy and learning & development services.
As of 1 February 2018, the Combat Sports Commission will have the following vacant Commissioner position:
- One person who represents persons who are or have been registered as contestants in a class relevant to boxing.
The position of Commissioner is a Ministerial appointment and will run for a term of between one and three years at the Minister’s discretion. The position of Commissioner is remunerated through payment of sitting fees at a current rate of $230 for half day and $350 for a full day.
