The Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) is an independent statutory authority established by the Parliament of Western Australia. As the economic regulator for WA, the ERA has the purpose of benefiting the WA community by promoting an efficient and customer focused economy. The ERA has three main functions. The first is to ensure utilities are operating in the best long term interests of consumers. The second is to ensure the wholesale electricity market is operating effectively. The third is to conduct independent inquiries on important economic issues and make recommendations to the State Government. Current inquiries include reviews of water pricing and the Emergency Services Levy.

About the Role
We have a great opportunity for a suitable candidate to join us as Manager Projects in our Regulation and Inquiries Division for a 12 month period with possibility of extension / permanency.
As the Manager Projects you will manage projects and undertake analysis that is complex in nature and considered to have a significant impact on regulated industries including preparation of written advice and recommendations to the ERA Governing Body. You will then be required to work collaboratively with the project team to present the ERA’s considerations, analysis and conclusions in a decision document for the Authority’s approval. In this role you will also liaise with senior industry representatives, Government, representative bodies and other stake holders in relation to a specified regulated industry.
Your analytical and report writing skills will be of a very high standard as you will provide professional support and written advice in relation to economic, financial policy, legislative and regulatory matters. In this role you may also be requested to undertake research and analysis on inquiries referred to the ERA by Government and manage public consultation processes as required for industry, Government, representative bodies and other stakeholders.
As a suitable applicant you will possess qualification in a relevant discipline, comprehensive experience in managing regulatory projects, well developed communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and the ability to contribute to an innovative regulatory environment. You will be able to prioritise workload to meet required deadlines, have a proactive attitude and work collaboratively as part of a small team. You will also possess the ability to prepare clear and well-structured reports to effectively communicate complex economic, commercial and regulatory issues in a form that non-technical readers can understand.
