Thornlie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a creative and inspired Dance Teacher to join their team.
This is an opportunity to join a school in providing a positive school culture. The successful applicant should demonstrate exemplary Dance and Cheer teaching skills, be highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic. The ability to teach Jazz, Lyrical, Pom, Tap, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics, Cheerleading and Tumbling is required.
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate, through knowledge and practice, experience in regards to the Dance curriculum in the Arts. They will also be able to work effectively in a team environment as well as demonstrate quality teaching which enables students to achieve their potential.
The successful applicant will be a collaborative teacher with the ability to work well in a team environment. They will provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their understanding and appreciation of Dance, and will require the management of and participation in Interschool Eisteddfods and Showcase Productions.
The successful applicantwill be able to reflect effective teaching practices, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, the suitable applicants will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
