Establishes effective working relationships with local community groups, government agencies and other stakeholders in the judicial systems.

May be directed to travel on circuit with the Magistrate and on other occasions, alone or with Community Justice Service's staff to towns and remote Aboriginal communities.

Through liaison and consultation with Aboriginal Communities and stakeholders in the justice system assists the Court, the Judiciary, the Clerk of the Court and the Department of Justice with effective service delivery to Aboriginal persons.

Acts as a positive influence within the Aboriginal community by undertaking a community education role on social justice issues to assist and support Aboriginal people in accessing and attending courts

Explains to Aboriginal people their rights, obligations, court procedures and protocols in language that they can understand. May be directed to work at any other court location as required.

Provides support and assistance to the higher courts and coroners court as directed.
Special Requirements
The Department recognises Aboriginality as a genuine qualification for this position under 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984. To apply you must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) descent, identify as ATSI and be recognised as such by the ATSI community
Applicants are to have a "C" class drivers licence and undertake travel by road and air charter to court circuit locations. .
