Level 2 PSGOGA 2014, $59,172 pa + 9.50% superannuation

Sport and Recreation (SR), a division of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries aims to support the future of sport and recreation in Western Australia by offering employment opportunities to passionate, innovative and vibrant graduates. There are two opportunities hosted at Sport and Recreation within the Industry Development and Participation division. These two graduates will be based at the Leederville SR office and employed by suitable industry organisations.
In line with our Workforce and Diversity plan the Department promotes and supports a diverse workforce to meet our business needs. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people under 25. The Departments business needs may be taken into account in the appointment process.
These graduate positions will be commencing in January 2018. Applicants should either have graduated in 2016 or will graduate in 2017, with a relevant university degree. Relevant degrees include, but are not limited to: Sport and Recreation Management, Sports Science, Human Movement, Leisure Sciences, Event Management, Commerce, Communications, Law, or similar.
Please note – an additional Graduate Project Officer position is available in the South West (Bunbury) SR office. This graduate role will work across recreation and regional services. A separate application process applies to this position
Information session on Graduate Program
Sport and Recreation will be hosting a free information session for prospective applicants on the graduate program. This session will explore the Departments expectations of the graduates officers, potential opportunities and outline in more detail the different roles on offer.

Job Description
The Graduate Project Officers will support a range of initiatives that build the capacity of people and organisations resulting in increased participation in sport and recreation by Western Australians. Graduates will also have the opportunity to take on a range of exciting projects that will develop their networks and skills within the vibrant sport and recreation industry.
The Graduate Project Officers will be involved in a variety of key work areas that include but are not limited to; community participation, special initiatives, organisational development, learning and development, club development, volunteers, event management and grant management.
The two positions are in the following work units:
(1) Industry Development – will support with people, organisational, high performance, integrity and safety areas. Assists with projects and events.
(2) Participation– will support the development of inclusive sport and recreation environments. Assists with community engagement initiatives. Assists with the development of special initiatives.
Other Conditions
You will be required to sign a consent form allowing the Department to run a national police clearance check, as per Sport and Recreation’s Employment Suitability Checks Policy. Should you work on a project with children during your programme, a Working with Children Check will be required prior to that work,
