Merredin College is an independent public school seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science teacher.
This position requires the teaching of Science across the secondary years (Years 7 – 12) and may involve limited teaching responsibilities in other Learning Areas. An ability to teach senior school Physics and/or Chemistry is highly desirable. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the content and standards of the Australian Curriculum: Science as well as Schools Curriculum and Standards Authority Senior Schooling Science courses. Knowledge of WACE requirements is desirable.
The successful applicant will have a student-centred approach to teaching with the capacity to provide learning experiences that are inclusive and maximise the utilization of technology in the classroom. The ability and willingness to work as a team member to support the school’s priorities is also vital for this position. We are seeking an individual who inspires passion for learning in others and enjoys a real sense of achievement. The ability to analyse student performance data and use this in planning is critical.

Located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt, Merredin College provides a high quality, seamless educational program for 620 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Merredin College is unique because our students can remain in the community in which they were born and at the same school for their entire education. Our staff and our families can be true partners in the entire schooling process.
The Merredin College campus boasts new primary buildings as well as refurbishments to existing secondary buildings. The Trade Training Centre caters for automotive, metals and building & construction. A contemporary dance studio and video conferencing/recording facility complements the existing arts and technology facilities. As well as the school building and renovation program, there has been an extensive upgrade to the Merredin Residential College.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
