The Art Gallery of Western Australia, founded in 1895, occupies a precinct of three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of the Perth Cultural Centre. The Gallery houses the State Art Collection, which includes one of the world’s finest collections of Indigenous art, the pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art and design as well as Australian and International art and design.

Conditions
This is a full-time, fixed-term vacancy, for a period of 12 months, with a possibility of extension and/or permanency. There will also be a Pool running for a period of 18 months from the initial appointment. Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into a pool from which full-time, part-time, casual, fixed term or permanent appointments may be made.
A current Working with Children will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the Arts Police Record Screening Policy.
You must have a degree or higher level qualification in Education to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.
Location
This position is located in central Perth within the Cultural Centre hub close to the bustling café, tourist and shopping districts.
Job Description
As the Educator and Visitor Experience Officer you will be required to deliver innovative interactive, interpretive education and public programs, focussed on works in the State Art Collection and temporary exhibitions, to school groups and general public visitors as in-gallery and studio based activities.
Specific responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Assist in monitoring customer feedback as a program improvement strategy.
- Liaise with other Gallery Teams to source information related to art works on display.
- Identify current curriculum servicing requirements, educational development issues and customer trends to assist the team in the ongoing review and development of the engaging schools and public support programs.
- Source supplies and services to appropriately resource activities and promotions.
