Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager Planning and Innovation this role leads the portfolio management function and significantly contributes to strategic and business planning within the organisation. The role focuses on the portfolio management framework including the coordination, prioritisation, evaluation and reporting for strategic and business initiatives. The role also focuses on the strategic and business planning frameworks and the management, prioritisation, alignment and monitoring of all key activities to the strategic plan.

Key responsibilities
• Leads the coordination, prioritisation, dependency management, risk management, and resource analysis of the organisation’s portfolio to ensure it is planned and managed as a whole to meet the organisation’s strategic objectives
• Significantly contributes to the strategic planning function, including the identification and sourcing of required information, facilitation of strategic decisions, development of guiding policies, measures and scorecards
• Provides analysis and evaluation of opportunities and threats (internal, market, industry, environment) that may impact the organisation’s strategic plan, portfolio or individual business initiatives and provides advice to the Planning and Innovation section including options to address them
• Develops and implements a business planning framework including processes, toolkits, metrics and monitoring
• Provides accurate and timely information that enhances decision making and provides one version of the truth, consolidated reporting on organisational metrics, strategic initiatives and business plans
• Partners with business units to provide strategic and portfolio planning advice to support business planning activities
• Monitors and evaluates emerging strategic planning and portfolio management practices and trends, identifies opportunities to improve the service offerings of the section and wider organisation
• Mobilises, manages and/or supports programs and complex high-risk projects, development proposals, strategic business cases, key procurement activities and feasibility studies
• Significantly contributes to the quality, timely, effective and efficient delivery of relevant services to all internal and external customers and the promotion of a team culture driven by excellence and focus on customers
• Significantly contributes to effective relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders
• Contributes to the Planning and Innovation section’s budget, planning, resource prioritisation, reporting, procurement, contractual, legislative, legal and risk management requirements
• Undertakes other duties as required

Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated experience leading the planning and management of portfolios and/or programs
2. Demonstrated experience in strategic and/or business planning including; information sourcing, evaluation, policy development and reporting
3. Demonstrated primary and secondary research experience, including the analysis, evaluation and the provision of advice to senior stakeholders
4. Demonstrated experience in the provision of portfolio, project and/or business reporting
5. Demonstrated experience in managing projects, business case development and procurement activities
6. Excellent analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with relevant stakeholders
