We’re looking for
A highly motivated Solicitor to join our dynamic legal and legislative services team.
You will provide timely, practical legal advice and opinions on the interpretation and application of legislation relevant to DoT. You will also appear on behalf of DoT in various Courts and Tribunals. You will need to have knowledge and experience in administrative law, commercial law, transport law and litigation. You will be able to show initiative and be capable of working collaboratively within a team of more senior solicitors.
Your knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Parliamentary and legislative process and ability to negotiate and draft legal documents will be essential to your success in this role.
The successful applicant will hold a degree in law and be admitted to engage in legal practice in Western Australia.
We need someone who can
- Explain complex legal issues in an easy to understand manner
- Demonstrate experience in the provision of legal services including the drafting of legal documents
- Appear in Courts and Tribunals
- Cultivate strong, productive working relationships and partnerships
- Communicate effectively at a senior level with a range of stakeholders including other solicitors, government departments, the Minister’s office and parliament
