Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a collaborative, dedicated and highly motivated Humanities and Social Sciences teacher to join our team.
The successful applicant will join a collegial school community with strong pedagogical and collaborative practices, a supportive team environment that provides for the possibility of participation with ongoing school-based professional development programs.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills who can establish positive relationships with staff and students. The successful candidate will be able to contribute positively to the learning area. Demonstrated ability to develop and apply strategies which will improve student understanding, knowledge and skills. It would be highly advantageous to have experience working with academically talented students. In addition, the capacity to incorporate Information Computer Technology (ICT) into the classroom and a familiarity with a 1 to 1 mixed platform student device environment is desirable. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated knowledge of Instructional Strategies and cooperative learning techniques and the ability to apply these in the teaching context. You will ideally possess a strong knowledge of the Humanities and Social Sciences Western Australian Curriculum. It would be highly advantageous to have the ability to teach Economics and/or Psychology at an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) level.
Situated in the western suburbs two kilometres from the Indian Ocean, Duncraig SHS caters for students from Year 7 to Year 12 in the suburb of Duncraig and surrounding areas. High academic standards are set and these are achieved through hard work, parent support, high quality teaching and constantly improving resources and facilities. Our range of school based programs include: Academic Extension Program for high achieving students, a Triathlon Academy, Music programs and Bushranger Cadet Units.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
