Ballajura Community College (CC), an Independent Public School, is seeking a dedicated and highly experienced Technical Support Officer to join their enthusiastic team.
The Technical Support Officer will work as part of a team to provide first and second level Information Technology (IT) support services to over 1600 end users, including staff and students. It is important to note that Ballajura CC operates an independent network and therefore does not run a Department of Education SOE.
The successful applicant will have previous experience installing and maintaining network systems, ideally within a large school or similar environment, and experience with providing support to users, problem solving and troubleshooting. It is highly desirable for the successful applicant to have experience with Microsoft desktop operating systems, Apple desktops and iPads, Microsoft Office products and Cisco technology. The successful applicant will also ideally have experience with printer management and maintenance, anti-virus products and wireless technology. Please note, Microsoft Server 2012 is in use at the College along with VMware ESX.
Ballajura CC is a large secondary college with a student population of over 1600. The College is a complex institution comprising two sites (Years 7 to 9 and Years 10 to 12), two offices, two libraries, two science laboratories and extensive school grounds. The College actively seeks to meet the needs of the community and seeks to develop partnerships with parents, graduates and the wider community. It draws on these resources to ensure students formal and informal educational experiences are inspiring, relevant and inclusive.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
- Conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to develop innovative solutions to information technology problems.
- Ability to install and maintain network systems incorporating the Internet and Electronic Mail.
- Organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices and the initiative to work with minimum supervision.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- Hold or obtain a current Working with Children Check; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
