LOCATION
The Pilbara District in Western Australia has some of the world’s most ancient natural landscapes, dating back two billion years. Deep rocky canyons lead to peaceful plunge pools in the beautiful Karijini National Park and there are hundreds of islands with dazzling white beaches and untouched coral gardens for you to explore.
WHAT’S THE ROLE?
The Senior Practice Development Officer is responsible for providing advice, consultation and assistance to District Directors, Directors, Unit managers, Team Leaders and other Field staff within the district, on operational policy and practice matters and complex casework practice issues.
You will promote quality practice and continuous improvement in the delivery of service, contribute to the development of monitoring and reviewing frameworks and supports their operation and monitor reports and makes recommendations on the standard of departmental practice.
The successful applicant will possess sound analytical and risk assessment skills and be confident in supporting and mentoring staff. Regular travel to multiple locations within the district may also be required.

CONDITIONS
You cannot be considered for this position unless you have a completed university degree in:
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Bachelor of Psychology or
- relevant Human Services area.
NOTE: If you have a relevant Human Services qualification you will need to supply unit descriptions/summaries for assessment against the Qualifications Framework.
All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency by Overseas Qualifications Unit, AEI-NOOSR or AASW and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
Additionally we require:
- substantiated evidence of your eligibility to live and work in Australia
- see section 7 of the JDF for additional pre-employment requirements
A criminal record check and departmental check will be conducted prior to commencement.
REGIONAL MOBILITY
This position is advertised under the Department’s Regional Mobility policy.
Current permanent CPFS employees will have the right of return to substantive position (at level) after successful completion of a two year fixed term period in the district.
This will be confirmed as part of the selection decision. This is applicable to permanent level 3 Specified Callings employees only.
