Conditions
This is a part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed-term vacancy, up until 30 June 2017, with a possibility of extension and/or permanency. There will also be a Pool running for a period of 18 months from the initial appointment Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into a pool from which full-time, part-time, fixed term or permanent appointments may be made.
A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the Arts Police Record Screening Policy.
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants for this position may be considered for ‘similar’ vacancies within the Culture and Arts Portfolio and/or the wider public sector which arise within a reasonable period of time. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be considered - permanent and fixed term, part- time and full- time.
You must have a degree or higher level qualification in an information related field directly relevant to librarianship or archives management that qualifies for Associate Membership of the Australian Library and Information Association or for professional membership of the Australian Society of Archivist to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.
Location
This position is located in central Perth within the Cultural Centre hub close to the bustling café, tourist and shopping districts.
Job Description
This position provides access to resources held by or accessed from the State Library. Specific duties may include:
- Cataloguing, indexing and describing resources to appropriate standards, including archival and non-archival materials and eresources.
- Creating access to library resources through e.g. finding aids, listings and other access tools
- Assisting in developing and documenting resource description and access standards for all formats, including cataloguing, record selection and acceptance guidelines, access rights and restrictions
- Coordinating the ordering, receipt, payment, processing and distribution of resources for the State Library, including liaising with library suppliers and monitoring expenditure.
