Carnarvon Community College (CC) is looking to appoint a dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic Teacher – Students at Educational Risk.

Are you looking for a rewarding challenge and have the ability to work with a group of year 10 to 12 boys to give them the skills to be ready for the world of work. The ability to work with indigenous students and a demonstrated ability to engage with colleagues and improve practice will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will engage students in an alternative engagement program, responding positively to all situations that arise at the school, whilst retaining a focus on relationships with the students. They will be innovative and creative in maintaining systems and structures to foster achievement, engagement and improvements in social and emotional programs of the class. They will be committed to continuous class improvement and continued development of the instructional programs in place.
To be successful in this role you will be committed to maximising our students’ potential and providing a relevant and engaging learning experience to students at educational risk, you would possess excellent interpersonal skills to engage students and to assist in forming effective relationships with fellow staff, students and the community. The ability to prioritise tasks and work well as part of a team is also highly desirable.
The Carnarvon CC has developed strong links with the University of WA through the Aspire programme; Durack TAFE, the mining sector and the local business and industry community. Additionally we have a strong working relationship with local government, local business and industry and the Gascoyne Development Commission in support of student aspirations. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
