ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Child Protection Worker, you will work in the areas of child protection, children in care and family support.
The key responsibilities are:
- Responding to concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children in accordance with provisions of the Children and Community Service Act 2004.
- Taking legal action to promote the safety and wellbeing of children where necessary.
- Providing services to children placed in the care of the CEO.
- Engaging and working alongside families to strengthen their capacity to provide care and safety to their members in ways that are:
- Sustainable
- Will build resilience in children, families and the community and
- Ultimately increase social wellbeing.
- Assisting identified families and their children with relevant agencies and community resources to ensure appropriate supports are in place.
WHAT WE ARE OFFERING
This is a Pool recruitment process for permanent and temporary full time positions for up to two (2) years with the possibility of extension and/ or conversion to permanency.
If you are suitable for this position you will be placed in a Pool from which appointments will be made for similar vacancies that arise within the next 12 months. If the appointment Pool is exhausted prior to the Pool expiry date, the Department reserves the right to supplement the Pool through further advertising.

CONDITIONS
You cannot be considered for this position unless you have a completed university degree in:
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Bachelor of Psychology or
- relevant Human Services area.
NOTE: If you have a relevant Human Services qualification you will need to supply unit descriptions/summaries for assessment against the Qualifications Framework.
All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency by Overseas Qualifications Unit, AEI-NOOSR or AASW and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
Additionally we require/ to be considered for this position you must have:
- substantiated evidence of your eligibility to live and work in Australia
- see section 7 of the JDF for additional pre-employment requirements
A criminal record check and departmental check will be conducted prior to commencement.
