Kununurra is a town situated in among the scenic hills and ranges of the far north-east Kimberley Region approximately 37 kilometres from the border with the Northern Territory.
WHAT ARE WE OFFERING
This is a Pool recruitment process for a 2 year fixed term placement with the possibility of extension and / or conversion to permanency
If you are suitable for this position you will be placed in a Pool from which appointments will be made for similar vacancies that arise within the next 12 months. If the appointment Pool is exhausted prior to the Pool expiry date, the Department reserves the right to supplement the Pool through further advertising.
This position is advertised under the Department’s Regional Mobility policy.
Successful applicants will qualify for one of 3 options under this policy:
- Right of return to substantive position – at level (only available to current permanent employees)
- Right of return to home site - at higher level (only available to current permanent employees)
- Guaranteed transfer - at level (all applicants)
The qualifying option will be confirmed as part of the selection decision and is dependent upon the vacancy classification, location and the employment status of the applicant.

SENIOR CHILD PROTECTION WORKER, SPECIFIED CALLINGS 2
The Senior Child Protection Worker responds to concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children and applying the provisions of the Children and Community Services Act 2004 and providing services to children placed in the care of the CEO.
You will be responsible for taking legal action to promote the safety and wellbeing of children where necessary, undertaking case work activities of a complex nature, and providing advice and expertise to District staff on the child safety and protection issues.
CONDITIONS
- completed university degree in:
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Bachelor of Psychology or
- Relevant Human Services area.
- substantiated evidence of your eligibility to live and work in Australia

NOTE: If you have a relevant Human Services qualification you will need to supply unit descriptions/summaries for assessment against the Qualifications Framework.
All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency by Overseas Qualifications Unit, AEI-NOOSR or AASW and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
A criminal record check and departmental check will be conducted prior to commencement.
SENIOR FIELD WORKER LEVEL 5
The Senior Field Worker will work in the areas of child protection and children in care and is responsible for providing a professional service to individuals, groups and communities within a service delivery team.
You will provide appropriate consultation to staff and other service delivery agencies. If required, managing a small local office and ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources, as well as representing the Department within the local community.
