Workforce Management Branch provides broad-spectrum Human Resource Management (HRM) consultancy and resources, researches best practice, develops and delivers professional learning and provides a range of HRM activities, including job classification services.
The Branch is seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR consultant to join their team in the role of Senior Human Resource Consultant.
We need someone who can
- provide a comprehensive HRM consultancy service across the Department, orientated to continuous improvement and building capacity
- provide executive support and advice on classification, job design and workforce profiling and assist in the management of Senior Executive positions and contracts
- provide guidance to Department employees on human resource policy and practice and develop and deliver high quality professional learning
- communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and represent the Department on relevant committees and working parties
- research, identify and evaluate emerging human resource issues and trends relevant to the Department
- manage HRM projects and provide solutions to complex issues or problems
- coordinate restructures, realignments and related activities
- support the development and maintenance of on-line human resource information.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Well-developed knowledge of and experience with the legislative framework and policies that impact on human resource management relevant to the public sector.
- In-depth knowledge, skills and practice in human resource management including research, planning and presentation skills and capacity to develop and deliver human resource training.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills that demonstrate the ability to provide an effective consultancy service and influence results.
- Highly developed written communication skills in a human resource context.
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills strategically applied to human resource legislation, policies and practice.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
