Meekatharra District High School (DHS) are seeking 2 primary teachers to join their friendly team.
We are seeking passionate and flexible teachers who will thrive on the diversity of being a primary teacher at Meekatharra DHS.
The successful applicants will have a strong work ethic and a deep knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum Outline. They should be proactive in participating in whole school, and phase planning and curriculum development. Suitable applicants should be able to demonstrate an exceptionally high level of collaborative practice, together with interpersonal skills to enable effective participation and engagement.
This role will suit teachers who are highly motivated, student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences. This role will appeal to both experienced and new graduate teachers who would like an opportunity to join our strong and supportive school.
Our school has a very welcoming and supportive staff who work together to improve the learning outcomes of all students. A strong professional learning and coaching program support new staff to grow their skills and many opportunities to attend professional learning are provided.
Meekatharra DHS is located approximately 800 kilometres north east of Perth. Our school draws from a diverse population of around 1,000 locally and 2,100 district-wide, representing Aboriginal communities, pastoral, mining and related service industries. The town of Meekatharra has good facilities and is renowned for its beautiful day time vistas, hot summer temperatures and spectacular sunsets.
Meekatharra DHS caters for kindergarten to Year 12 students and has a total enrolment of 180 students, the majority being primary aged students. There is a large Aboriginal population in the town and over 90% of our students come from Aboriginal families.
The school places significant emphasis on teaching and learning, specifically literacy and numeracy, student well-being, attendance and early intervention.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
