Seaforth Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated School Officer to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for completing administrative duties, which include the preparation of newsletters, notices, correspondence and maintaining the filing system. The School Officer enters and maintains enrolment data, student attendance records and absentee reports and generates routine reports as required. As you will be the first point of contact within the school, you must be organised, friendly and have the ability to prioritise.
Seaforth PS is a relatively small school situated in the suburb of Gosnells. Student numbers hover around 250 which makes for a more personalised approach.
The teaching areas are of a cluster design which allows classes to collaborate on learning tasks. There is a computer lab which has up to date equipment including iPads and notebooks. We have a computer ratio of 1 for every 6 students. The school has a large well-stocked library. The large playground areas are highly utilised by students. A large undercover area is used for assemblies and boasts games like over-sized Connect 4, draughts and table tennis.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in providing general office administrative support with ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

ELIGIBILITY
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
