There are two (2) positions available. Each is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP
School Sport WA, part of the Statewide Services Division, is seeking to appoint two (2) innovative and engaging individuals to join their team in the role of Coordinator, School Sport
The Coordinators, School Sport facilitate the cooperation between the relevant agencies and contribute to the overall cohesion of sport policy and organisation. The positions develop, monitor and review School Sport WA Association policies consistent with related Departmental and other educational sector policies.
The successful applicants will provide assistance and support to the Manager School Sport WA in relation to the delivery of competitive school sporting opportunities for students in all Western Australian schools. The successful applicants will also promote, plan, establish and manage competitive interschool, interstate and international sport for Western Australian school students, including country weeks, national carnivals and inter-school swimming and athletic carnivals.
School Sport Western Australia (WA) develops policy and strategic direction in the management of support and services to students and schools. It provides leadership and allocates resources to initiatives and supports regions in their implementation of key initiatives, which includes the promotion, planning, establishment and management of competitive interschool, interstate and international sport for Western Australian school students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- High-level knowledge and understanding of the policy directions and issues relating to the organisation of competitive sport for students in schools.
- Highly developed program management skills, including the ability to plan, organise, coordinate and financially manage competitive sporting activities at different levels.
- Highly developed verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to deal with high-level negotiations and consultations.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including experience in the preparation of policies.
- Experience in providing support for educational leadership with respect to school sport in Western Australia.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment; and
- Hold or obtain a current Working with Children Check
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
