The Department of Corrective Services works to protect, rehabilitate and serve in order to achieve its mission of ensuring a safer community. The Corporate Support Division is responsible for managing the Department’s human resources, financial services, infrastructure, legal and legislative services and information technology. The Knowledge, Information and Technology Directorate is responsible for providing legal and legislative services and technology solutions and support to the Department whilst continuously improving its services in support of operations. The Directorate plays a key role in supporting business improvement and efficiencies through integrated systems.
Role
Reporting to the Principal Information Officer, the Senior Legal Services Officer provides assistance and support on the management and release of information to external parties, including responses to applications for information under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and other legislation. This role is also responsible for coordinating the Department’s response to legal actions in consultation with the Principal Information Officer and in liaison with the State Solicitor’s Office, including applications for judicial review, public liability claims, claims for damages and coronial inquests. This position assists with the development and review of protocols relating to the release of information to external parties and the Department’s responses to legal actions.
