Mindarie Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Gardener – Handyperson to join our team.
The successful applicant will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in a clean and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. They will maintain tools and horticultural equipment in a serviceable condition, and perform minor repairs and maintenance in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines. They will perform tasks and duties using safe work practices, and maintain accurate gardening records.
The successful applicant will ideally have a good general knowledge of handyman skills. The successful applicant will also ideally have the capacity to work unsupervised and have the ability to identify and recognise work that is required to be completed without specific direction. It is highly desirable for the successful applicant to be a team player with the ability to work collaboratively with the administration team to ensure the grounds are kept in a clean and tidy condition at all times.
Mindarie PS is a dynamic learning community catering for students from Kindergarten through to Year Six. The school opened as a school in houses in 1997 and moved to its current, purpose built premises in 1999. The suburb of Mindarie is a seaside suburb located approximately 35 km north of the Central Business District of Perth in the Shire of Wanneroo. In 2012 Mindarie PS became an Independent Public School; empowering the school and our community, giving us greater autonomy in which to shape our ethos, priorities and direction.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a ten (10) day breach period to this selection process.
