WHAT’S THE JOB?
Residential Care Workers play an integral role within the Department, creating and maintaining a safe and caring environment for children and young people with challenging needs. Work as a team on a shift work basis to provide quality therapeutic care to children. The aim of the home is to support and teach the children in all aspects of their lives.
You will also need to assist in planning, developing and implementing activities with children and young adults.
The successful applicant will need:
- an understanding of therapeutic residential group home care with traumatised children and young people including Aboriginal and other culturally and linguistically diverse groups
- to provide administrative duties including data entry and provides written, verbal and computer reports.
Residential Care requires a mix of motivated, creative and resilient staff with a wide range of experience, skills and abilities in order to create a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment for all children in care.
WHAT WE ARE OFFERING
This is a Pool for casual opportunities. Suitable applicants for these positions will be placed in a pool from which casual appointments will be made for future similar vacancies that arise within the next 12 months.
If the appointment pool is exhausted prior to the pool expiry date, the Department reserves the right to supplement the pool through further advertising.
This position incorporates flexible working arrangements which may include shift work. Casual employees work on an irregular basis with no set hours and no expectation of ongoing work. A casual loading of 20% is applied to the standard hourly rate in lieu of leave entitlements.

- substantiated evidence of your eligibility to live and work in Australia
- see section 7 of the JDF for additional pre-employment requirements
- A criminal record check and departmental check will be conducted prior to commencement.
