North Regional TAFE is the largest provider of training and vocational services in the north of Western Australia, servicing industries and communities across a region exceeding one million square kilometres. North Regional TAFE has twelve campuses – from Karratha in the south to Kununurra in the north – with the College’s three largest delivery centres at Broome, South Hedland and Karratha. The College delivers over 200 nationally recognised and industry endorsed qualifications each year to over 8,000 students. Training is also offered in non-accredited programs, short courses, work-readiness programs, literacy and numeracy, and skill sets.
The College is a major contributor to social capital in the region with an annual budget of circa $60 million and approximately 300 staff.
About the role
North Regional TAFE is looking for a highly motivated person to join our Property & Facilities team at our Pundulmurra Campus (South Hedland). Working in a small team environment, the Facilities Officer (Building and Grounds Maintenance) assists with buildings and facilities maintenance and improvements. Providing support to the Facilities Coordinator in all general maintenance tasks, the successful applicant will have cross trade skills and extensive experience in building services, maintenance, repairs and grounds associated with educational facilities. The applicant must have a familiarity with workplace OS&H requirements, an ability to accept direction and work effectively without close supervision and be able to identify, trouble shoot and fix minor problems. The applicant must be able to liaise with contractors and team members on a regular basis and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills. Knowledge of computers and the ability to write simple reports would be advantageous. A current ‘C’ class license is required.
