Appointment Pool
Use your outstanding communication skills in this varied role
We are seeking to establish a pool of highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed communications professionals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2016 and 2017.
Working as part of a team, you will use your strategic communication skills to develop, coordinate and evaluate public relations, community education and marketing strategies.
These exciting and challenging projects include elements of communications planning, brand development and community education campaigns, publications, website and digital development, and promotional activities. You will have a proven track record in these areas as well as the ability to think both creatively and laterally.
Highly motivated and personable, you will have excellent interpersonal skills. You will use these in providing high level advice and support in strategic communications across the Department to business units, regions and schools.
Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will have the ability to multi-task as well as undertake high-level negotiation and consultation with both internal and external stakeholders.
The focus of Corporate Communications and Marketing is to ensure all activities enhance the image and reputation of public education.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) including the ability to relate effectively to senior management within government, the education sector, business and industry, and the community.
- Marketing and public relations skills with the knowledge and ability to develop and implement innovative and creative strategies.
- Organisational, project management and events management skills.
- Ability to effectively negotiate with stakeholders and suppliers including the ability to negotiate and secure sponsorship.
- Conceptual and analytical skills including research and report writing skills.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy; and
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
