The position
The Licensing and Regulation Branch of the Department of Mines and Petroleum is seeking a recent graduate (degree to be completed in the current or preceding calendar year) with a Bachelor degree majoring in psychology, or a Bachelor of Science, majoring in health promotion or health and safety, or an approved equivalent degree. A focus on mental health and wellbeing concerns in the resources sector will be highly regarded.
On completion of the graduate program, you will use your research and evaluation skills to analyse psychosocial harm preventative initiatives and assist with the development, implementation, evaluation and review of strategies, processes and policies to effectively promote mental health and wellbeing across the resources sector and for the Department.

Initial employment is on a fixed term contract with provision for permanent appointment following successful completion of the first twelve months. At the end of the program, you will return to a position in the Resources Safety Division.

• A copy of your academic record and evidence of your Bachelor degree with a psychology major, or a Bachelor of Science, majoring in health promotion or health and safety, or an approved equivalent degree (completed in the current or preceding calendar year). A focus on mental health and wellbeing concerns in the resources sector will be highly regarded.
• Your CV including the names and contact details of two referees.
• A cover letter which outlines why you are interested in working at the Department of Mines and Petroleum and how it fits with your career aspirations.
• A description (maximum of one page) of your role in a project (university assignment is ok) that you have undertaken or participated in that demonstrates your ability to think critically and undertake analysis to reach a position.
Please note that completion of a National Police Clearance will form part of the selection process.
