The successful graduates will have a superior ability to think deeply about the challenges for Western Australia’s economic development and its place in the global economy; and will have a degree in one of the following disciplines:
Natural resource management, environmental science, engineering, business, economics, geology or urban and regional planning.
Our Graduate Program has been recognised Australia wide and is a joint initiative between the Department of State Development, the Department of Mines and Petroleum, and the Department of Regional Development. The program offers an opportunity to be part of the projects that help develop our State.
The Graduate Program is a structured 18 month program which combines targeted and comprehensive training (both formal and on the job) with three-month placements throughout the participating departments, and potentially other government departments. You will have a dedicated senior sponsor and mentor for the duration of the program and the opportunity to network with skilled and diverse professionals. Initial employment is on an 18 month contract with provision for permanent appointment following the successful completion of the first 12 months.

You will be required to provide the following:
1. A copy of your academic record and evidence of your Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline being completed in the current or preceding calendar year.
2. Your CV including the names and contact details of two referees. 3. A cover letter which outlines why you are interested in working at the Department of State Development and how it fits with your career aspirations.
4. A one (1) page written description of your role in a project (university assignment is ok) that you have undertaken or participated in that demonstrates your ability to think critically and undertake analysis to reach a position.
