Tom Price Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cleaner to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surface, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting and rubbish removal. They will perform external cleaning duties, including cleaning of verandahs and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning and removal of cobwebs. They will complete vacation cleaning duties, including the stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, window cleaning, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandahs and undercover areas, maintenance of gymnasium floors and other such duties as required by the Cleaner-in-Charge.
Tom Price SHS is situated in the Pilbara Education District some 1,500 kilometres north of Perth. It is one of two primary schools located in Tom Price. The school was opened in 1967, on its present location, to service the children of workers in the local iron ore.
Tom Price SHS prides itself in promoting to students a pursuit of excellence and opportunity through its provision of a range of education programs including academic, Vocational Education and Training (VET), social and sport. The school is recognised for its involvement in and support for community events. Our academic program is supported by the school's strong partnership with the University of Western Australia which has successfully supported and enabled our Year 12 Tertiary bound students to be accepted into university. Our VET program, in partnership with local businesses and industry (including Rio Tinto), enables students to participate in meaningful and authentic learning experiences that have provided students with the opportunity to achieve Certificate II level nationally accredited vocational qualifications. The school's VET program was boosted in late 2011 with the opening of a modern trade training centre. In partnership with the Polly Farmer Foundation, the school hosts a Follow the Dream program to support Aboriginal students achieve success at school including Year 12 graduation.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a ten (10) day breach period to this selection process.
