Harrisdale Senior High School, opening next year, is establishing a pool of outstanding teachers of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies in the 2017 school year. Placements can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2017 school year.
Suitable applicants for these positions will be expert, passionate teachers of HASS with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. While teaching at Year 7 level only in 2017, they will demonstrate the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school HASS curriculum in the early and middle adolescent phases of learning. Importantly, suitable applicants will be enthusiastic adopters of a school wide pedagogy based on direct, explicit instruction, and they will be keen to work collaboratively with colleagues across the learning areas.

Opening in 2017, Harrisdale Senior High School offers a wonderful opportunity for students to access a high-quality secondary education in their local community. The school will open at Year 7 level with a projected enrolment of around 200 students. Another year group will enrol annually until 2022, when the 'Year 7 Class of 2017' graduate as Year 12 students.
Harrisdale is a rapidly growing suburb located approximately 30 kilometres south of the Perth CBD. The school is located on Laverton Avenue, adjacent to the City of Armadale's new playing fields and sports pavilion and Harrisdale Primary School.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
