ABOUT THE ROLE
Child Protection Workers are employedin the areas of child protection, children in care, and family support, where they respond to concerns regarding the safety of children. Child Protection workers on the Country Relief Team are posted to various country offices to provide case work support. Postings vary from a week to a month.
Key responsibilities include:
- undertaking case work activities of a complex nature
- investigating concerns about the safety and welfare of children and taking action appropriate to the situation
- taking legal action to promote the safety and wellbeing of children where necessary
Excellent communication skills, the ability to build productive working relationships and a commitment to best practice and continuous learning is essential for this role.
This is a great opportunity to diversify and gain further experience whilst developing greater independence and confidence in your professional ability.
CONDITIONS
This is a permanent full time opportunity.
Suitable applicants for this position may be considered for future similar vacancies that may arise within the next twelve (12) months.
To be considered for this position you MUST have a university degree (Bachelor or Masters) in:
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Bachelor of Psychology or
- relevant Human Services area.
NOTE: If you have a relevant Human Services qualification you will need to supply unit descriptions/summaries for assessment against the Qualifications Framework.
All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency by Overseas Qualifications Unit, AEI-NOOSR or AASW and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
Additionally we require:
- substantiated evidence of your eligibility to live and work in Australia
- Working with Children Check (WWC)
- see section 7 of the JDF for additional pre-employment requirements
A criminal record check and departmental check will be conducted prior to commencement.
