Parkwood Primary School (PS) is seeking a motivated and loyal Gardener – Handyperson to join our friendly team. In this role you will play a key part in maintaining our school grounds and creating well-presented landscaping and turf for students and the school community to enjoy.
As the Gardener – Handyperson you will have good communication skills to be able to provide advice and support to the business manager on school ground maintenance. In this role you will also be required to perform minor repairs and maintenance using work safe practices.
Parkwood Primary School opened in 1975 and is at the eastern end of the Fremantle-Peel Education District. The school sits adjacent to Lynwood Senior High School. Our students enjoy quality facilities, equipment and resources to enhance their learning experiences.
Formerly one of the largest primary schools in Western Australia, demographic changes have resulted in a student enrolment of approximately 620 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. This includes just in excess of 100 children in the Intensive English Centre.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a ten (10) day breach period to this selection process.
