Due to structural changes and growth within the Air Wing Division of WA Police, new opportunities for employment have been created.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position plays a senior leadership role in supporting the Commissioner of Police in the performance of their CEO ‘key personnel’ responsibilities associated with maintaining the Air Operators’ Certificates (fixed wing and rotary operations) and Certificate of Approval (maintenance). This position is responsible for leadership of aviation operations, maintenance and safety, and is a key stakeholder in the procurement activities of Police Air Wing.
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE
It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they have been granted Australian Citizenship prior to the completion of the selection process.

Essential:

Extensive management experience in a commercial or emergency services aviation organisation.

Extensive knowledge of Australian Civil Aviation Regulations and Orders.

Formal aviation qualifications.
Applicants are also required to submit a Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience and qualifications relevant to the Accountabilities/Duties of the attached Position Description Form.
The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements.
Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.
OTHER CONDITIONS
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies at Police Air Wing. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for this position is not a current WA Police employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to this position may be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
