The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA) is responsible for the operation of all bus, train and ferry public transport services in the greater Perth metropolitan area under the Transperth brand. We also operate public transport services in regional centres, operate road coach and rail passenger services to regional areas under the Transwa brand, and administer and manage School Bus Services (SBS). In addition to operating these transport services, we are responsible for designing, building and maintaining public transport infrastructure.

About this opportunity
With a commitment to the ongoing development of our workforce, we currently have a number of Perth based trainee positions available in our Urban Electrical Overhead team. As a Trainee Linesperson, you will gain on the job experience assisting with the maintenance of our Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), whilst also receiving ongoing training and development through our Registered Training Organisation.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made to current vacancies and as vacancies arise over the next six (6) months.
What do I need to become a Trainee Linesperson?
This is a great opportunity for people interested in starting a career in the rail industry. As a Trainee Linesperson, you will be a good team player with a willingness and commitment to learn. You will also have suitable numeracy, literacy and communication skills, good mechanical aptitude and an ability to carry out maintenance work at moderate heights. A current unrestricted C Class WA driver’s licence and the ability to undertake shift work (including nights) are also essential.
