The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) is recruiting for a pool of suitable applicants to fill Team Leader (Burial) vacancies as they become available for the next 12 months at our Fremantle, Karrakatta and Pinnaroo sites. Our Burials staffs play a key role in our core business area of providing sensitive services to the WA Community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

JOB DESCRIPTION
You will work as part of a team and use your knowledge of safe work practices in using mechanical tools and manual labour in the preparation of burial sites for the arrival of funeral directors and mourners. As an MCB employee, you will be focused on providing a high level of service in line with the MCB’s values of Compassion, Respect, Understanding and Integrity.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR – You…
- Must be an Australian resident or citizen
- Must hold a current C-Class Driver’s Licence (Manual), with a MR-class driver’s licence as desirable
- Must have completed a Certificate III Funeral Services or other relevant qualification
- Must have at least 4 -6 years of varied and accumulated experience to enable competent performance of a range of job assignments; and/or demonstrated competent performance in grave digging.
- Must be able to provide leadership to motivate, mentor and provide on the job training to staff.
- Must have sound interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate sensitively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and customers from different ethnic backgrounds to resolve difficult enquiries and complaints.
- Must be able to operate and maintain relevant equipment (e.g. power tools, excavators, front end loaders, Tractors, skid steers, trucks) through application of technical knowledge and carry out workplace measurements and calculations.
- Must be able to apply relevant health and safety and equal opportunity policies and practices.
- Must be committed to honest and ethical work practices and behaviour.
- Must have basic computer literacy and application.
