These positions are fixed term (3 years with the possibility of extension and/or permanency) and project based for projects within the Public Transport Authority’s Major Projects Unit. They have capital funding that does not impact general government operating expenditure, therefore are open to the general public.

WA’s public transport system is recognised as the best in Australia and one of the best in the world. At the Public Transport Authority (PTA), we provide the integrated delivery of train, bus and ferry services throughout the state.
The Major Projects Unit is a Division of the PTA responsible for delivering high value, high risk, complex infrastructure projects resulting in significant improvements on the public transport and freight railway systems. This Division works closely with other Divisions and external stakeholders in the planning, delivery and handover of public transport infrastructure. Recently completed projects include extension of the Joondalup Line to Butler and the Perth City Link Rail Project. Current major projects in which these positions could be employed include the following:
- Perth City Link Bus Project (completion due mid 2016)
- Perth Stadium Transport Infrastructure Project (completion due in stages through to late 2017)
- Aubin Grove Station (completion due early 2017)
- Edgewater Station multi-storey car park (completion due early 2017)
- Forrestfield Airport Link (completion due late 2020)
- Kenwick Facility (timing under review)
The Major Projects Unit currently has three exciting opportunities available for experienced and motivated individuals. They are looking for two experienced Quality Systems Officers and one Quality Compliance Officer.
Quality Systems Officers
The Quality Systems Officer roles are challenging and varied, coordinating and administering the quality assurance program to align with AS/NZS ISO 9001. The 2 positions vary slightly with one focusing on coordinating the divisional risk management program and the Internal Audit Program and the other being responsible for the coordination of the Occupational Safety and Health requirements within the Major Projects Unit’s infrastructure projects.
To be successful in these roles it is critical you are able to demonstrate your knowledge and experience in:
- Quality and Safety Management systems with experience in conducting audits.
- Practical application of and understanding of the safety principles to meet the requirements of the OSH Act and Rail Safety Act 2010.
- Reviewing and reporting on trends and developments for business improvements
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation in policy/procedure development or reviews.
QualityCompliance Officer
The Quality Compliance Officer is responsible for performing inspections, internal safety audits, carrying out surveillance of works and reporting on compliance to ensure that legislative requirements are met. The position is responsible for ensuring that operational interface arrangements between separate work parties and contractors working on the same site run smoothly and efficiently.
To be successful in this role it is critical you are able to demonstrate your knowledge and experience in:
- Possession of a Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety or significant relevant experience in a similar role.
- An auditing qualification or certificate or significant experience.
- Construction site safety management or supervision in the disciplines of civil, mechanical and/or electrical.
- Considerable practical application of and understanding of the safety principles to meet the requirements of the OSH Act and Rail Safety Act.
