SUPERINTENDENT – URBAN (U); RURAL (R); NATURAL HAZARDS (NH)
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) invites applications from suitably qualified people with substantial operational management experiences in urban firefighting (U), rural firefighting (R) or natural hazard incidents (NH) to fill current vacant Superintendent positions and to be considered for the Superintendent Pools from which future vacancies may be filled. The pools will run for a period of twelve months.
Superintendents are responsible for –
- Leading the effective delivery and development of emergency management services and programs within the region or function.
- Identifies and implements changes to achieve best practice with all service delivery responsibilities, work practices and the effective use of human and physical resources which contribute to building community resilience.
DFES has a senior officer rotation policy which requires Superintendents to work in a variety of roles within the organisation which may include Regional locations of Broome, Karratha, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Albany, Bunbury and Manjimup.
Successful applicants may be offered temporary opportunities or permanent promotion to the rank and tenured in positions.
Superintendents will be required to work after hours and on weekends as part of a 320/8 Non-rostered shift work and will be required to participate in an on call roster.

Selection Process:
Applicants short listed for further consideration will be required to participate in both an interview and a written exercise to assess their communication, stakeholder management and managerial skills.
