THE FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESPONSE TEAM
It is estimated that family and domestic violence is now one of the most common reasons for notification to child protection services.
The Family and Domestic Violence Response Team (FDVRT) is a partnership between the Department for Child Protection and Family Support, WA Police and non-government domestic violence services.
The team aims to improve the safety of child and adult victims of family and domestic violence through a collaborative approach that focuses on timely and early intervention following a police call out to a domestic violence incident. There is a FDVRT in every child protection district.
THE POSITION
The Senior Child Protection Worker Family Domestic Violence works as part of the Family and Domestic Violence Response Team to provide a service to families and individuals who are experiencing or contributing to domestic violence.
This service includes:
- assisting District and Police staff in assessing domestic violence incident reports;
- helping victims access support and services; and
- engaging with community groups and other agencies to promote awareness and support for victims.
As a Senior Child Protection Worker you will also respond to concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children and undertake complex case work activities.
CONDITIONS
This is a fixed term full time opportunity until September 2016 with the possibility of a six month extension. Suitable applicants for this position may be considered for future similar vacancies that may arise within the next twelve (12) months.
You must have a university bachelor or masters degree in Social Work, Bachelor of Psychology or relevant Human Services area to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.

All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency by Overseas Qualifications Unit, AEI-NOOSR or AASW and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
