Position Profile: The Legal and Legislative Services Directorate is a very busy legal practice providing advice on a wide range of complex commercial and medico/legal matters to WA Health. The scope of the legal practice includes:
- general advice on legal and compliance matters, including statutory interpretation, and commercial and contracts management
- management of medico-legal issues on behalf of WA Health
- management of the Minister for Health's legislative portfolio including facilitating the development of new legislation
- advice in specialist areas such as consent, confidentiality, mental health, assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy
The role of the Solicitor is to provide, within tight timeframes, specialist advice in the commercial and medical/ health legal areas. The successful applicant must be capable of working with minimal supervision on a wide range of relevant legal matters. Applicants must have a Degree in Law and be admitted to legal practice in the Supreme Court of WA.
Successful applicants will be placed in a pool from which they may be offered full-time contract appointments within the Legal and Legislative Services Directorate. Appointments will be made to Specified Calling Level 3 or 4 depending on the level of skill and experience of the appointee.
